In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Unbeatable central location — Guests consistently praise the hotel's position near Grafton Street, Trinity College, the National Gallery, and the Luas, making it easy to explore Dublin on foot.
  • Charming historic building — The property retains old-world character that many guests find attractive, adding to the boutique feel despite being a 3-star hotel.
  • Helpful and friendly staff — Several reviewers specifically mention the warm and efficient service from reception, the concierge, and the bar and breakfast teams.
  • Clean and comfortable rooms — Guests note that rooms are spotless, beds are comfortable, and some have been recently refurbished, adding to the overall comfort.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • No on-site parking — The hotel does not offer its own parking; guests must use off-site facilities, which can be less convenient for drivers.
  • Inconsistent staff friendliness — While many guests praise the staff, a couple of reviews mention that reception and bar staff came across as unwelcoming or not friendly.
  • Room temperature control issues — At least one guest found their room too warm and had difficulty adjusting the temperature, which could affect comfort in certain seasons.
  • Breakfast can be skipped to save money — The breakfast is decent, but some guests suggest that eating out nearby might be cheaper, so the on-site option may not be the best value for budget-conscious travellers.

“The staff could not do enough for us – we loved our stay and would happily recommend it. The hotel sits close to lovely restaurants, the Irish Parliament, Grafton Street, the National Gallery, and the Luas. We found a nice Kilkenny café and restaurant nearby for hot drinks. Breakfast was fresh, with juices and a decent variety beyond that.”

“The location is marvellous and fab – near the centre and all the shops, just a few steps from Grafton Street and other attractions.”

“The building is very attractive and full of old-world charm. Check-in was handled by a very friendly female staff member, and Paddy the concierge was a true gentleman, looking after our bags while we continued shopping.”

“We appreciated the early check-in and the off-site parking arrangement.”

“Such good value for a lovely hotel. The staff were amazing – Patrick, the duty manager, was brilliant and helpful when we couldn't figure out the window. Miles in the bar and restaurant was the nicest barman: answered all our questions, recommended a dish (he was right – the burger was amazing), and was just an all-round friendly guy. The room was spotless and comfortable.”
